Do Not Count Change At The Register In Order To Make a Purchase

August 29, 2009

Taking more than a minute to buy a Diet Coke is unnecessary. But taking that time because you feel the need to pay with nickels and dimes – or god forbid, pennies – is borderline criminal. You ought to at least have your money ready if you insist on paying with change. And you shouldn’t need the cashier’s help as the two of you collaborate on Project: Buy a Diet Coke. It shouldn’t require two brains to count out 1.50 in change. While I stand there with my own soda, you two geniuses are sliding money all over the counter like you’re participating in some occult ritual to decide the fate of humanity.

Why are you walking around with a purse full of change in the middle of the day, anyway?
